try and keep lib.event2.event objects alive (via self-ref) while pending 

Requirements:
    * Cython
        * 0.9.6.14 is too old (fails at 'from ... cimport *')
        * 0.11.2 works

Building:
    * dev: python setup.py build_ext --in-place --force
